Containers totransport radioactive substances such as medical radioactive isotopes safely. Equipment and systems with critical geometry i.e. not allowing the build-up of critical mass due to blockage etc.
We worked on the ill-fated PBMR project, heading up the mechanical design of the coater facility – a section of the fuel plant that puts the first few layers of containment over the radioactive pellets. This plant was built and commissioned and did its job satisfactorily.
Plasmatrons (also known as Plasma Torches) – not the welding kind, but rather the kind used in chemical processes to provide extreme heat.
Quenches – heat exchangers that cool gas down extremely quickly from temperatures as high as 4000K.
Reactors – containers in which reactions can take place safely without spewing toxic gases into your lab or plant. Combined requirements such as high-temperature water cooled reactors, high-pressure and agitated (mixer) reactors are typical of the designs we have done.
Pressure vessels – although we’re not certified pressure vessel designers, we do design pressure vessels. We get your vessel approved by the relevant 3rd party authorities and deliver a vessel ready for on-site inspection. We specialise in out-of-the ordinary vessels i.e. equipment that performs a function such as mixing, exchanging heat or containing a reaction, that happens to be a pressure vessel as well.
Waste-destruction equipment – making use of plasma torches to provide extreme heat. We’re talking about temperatures hotter than the surface of the sun. These temperatures are useful for absolutely destroying any nasty waste and literally dissociating its molecules into free radicals, which can then be recombined to form other more useful substances such as fuel or waxes or oils.
Feeding and dosing apparatus – Screw feeders, piston feeders, vibratory feeders, conveyors – there are various ways to transport your material, even under vacuum or pressure.

An automated plant for chemically cleaning solar panel glass prior to it being coated with advanced coatings in next-generation solar panels. This was designed and built by us for the University of Johannesburg.
A leaching plant for chemically removing coatings off diamond-tipped drill bits for Element 6, a division of De Beers. This plant batched and dosed a truly horrible acid mixture and automatically dunked the items to be treated in acid followed by neutralising mixtures. Almost the whole plant was built out of plastic, anything metallic would just be corroded away.
